Learning to Beat Learning Disabilities

Who are the children with learning disabilities? Look around you — they come from every class and every level of American society. But all of them are at risk: More than one in four children with learning disabilities drop out of school, and only about one in eight attend four-year college within two years of leaving high school. These kids can learn — and succeed in school and beyond. But they need our help.

There's so much that can be done, and knowledge is critical — the earlier learning disabilities are diagnosed, the more effective treatment can be. Parents can get informed and learn if their own children may be at risk — and how those disabilities can be treated effectively. And everyone can help those need help learning, through volunteer efforts and by donating to the organizations that make helping these kids their priority. Together we can put the emphasis on "learning," not "disability."
