Afterschool Programs

Each afternoon, millions of children are left alone and unsupervised when the school bell rings. Not only can this lead to bored kids, it can result in poor grades, higher dropout rates and juvenile crime. What's a working parent to do?

In most urban communities, schools, churches and libraries offer after-school programs that are free or low-cost. Is your child a budding actor? Find a drama club for her to join. Are sports more his thing? There are plenty of recreational athletic programs out there. From academic clubs to volunteer groups, there's sure to be a way to keep your child safe, busy and happy each afternoon.

Interested in finding an after-school program for your child? Want to start one yourself? Just want to help out? Check out these organizations to find out how you can help valuable after-school programs flourish.
