Crisis in Afghanistan

The women and children of Afghanistan have been severely affected by years of war and famine. One out of every four Afghan children dies before the age of five. More than one million children are orphans; an estimated 500,000 are disabled-most the victims of landmines; and more than a million suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome (Source: Save the Afghan Children, Inc).
